The municipality of La Taha hosts the 1st Peace Conference, an initiative dedicated to reflection and dialogue on peacebuilding, rights and the role of rural communities.

The day will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the presentation of the project “La Taha: Villages for Peace”, by José Antonio García Salguero , mayor of La Taha.
Next, at 5:30 p.m., the conference “Peace through rights” will take place, given by Pedro Mercado , rector of the University of Granada.
The program will conclude with the round table “Peace in the rural world”, scheduled for 6:15 p.m., in which Purificación Ubic , deputy director of the Institute of Peace and Conflicts of the University of Granada; Alena Kárpava , coordinator of the Master’s Program in Culture of Peace, Conflicts, Education and Human Rights at IPAZ; Antonio Ortega , academic secretary of IPAZ; and Federico Velázquez , environment representative of UNESCO Andalusia.

The conference is organized by the Andalusian Association for UNESCO, the Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies (IPAZ), the University of Granada and the La Taha City Council.
The initiative seeks to bring reflection on peace to the rural sphere, relating rights, territories and communities as spaces from which to promote peacebuilding processes.
