{"id":38727,"date":"2026-02-05T09:11:44","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T08:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=38727"},"modified":"2026-02-05T09:32:39","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T08:32:39","slug":"school-day-of-non-violence-and-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=38727","title":{"rendered":"School Day of Non-violence and Peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; width: 46%;\">\n<p>FREE FLOW OF INFORMATION<\/p>\n<p>by CPNN<\/p>\n<p>The School Day of Non-Violence and Peace is celebrated on January 30.<\/p>\n<p>This year the day was celebrated in Spain, Mexico and Cuba.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DENIP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DENIP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-38728\" srcset=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DENIP.jpg 900w, https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DENIP-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/DENIP-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/teror.es\/teror-conmemoro-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-con-una-manifestacion-del-ies\/\">March by the students in Teror<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/School_Day_of_Non-violence_and_Peace\">Wikipedia<\/a>, this day was proposed by the\u00a0Spanish\u00a0poet\u00a0Lloren\u00e7 Vidal Vidal\u00a0in\u00a0Majorca\u00a0in 1964 as a &#8220;starting point and support for a pacifying and\u00a0non-violent\u00a0education of a permanent character.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Vidal chose the date of January 30 to commemorate the great prophet of non-violence and peace, Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on this day in 1948.<\/p>\n<p>It was popularized in France in the 1970&#8217;s by the Gandhian disciple <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dia_Escolar_de_la_No-viol%C3%A8ncia_i_la_Pau\">Lanza del Vasto <\/a> in his utopian \u00a0Communaut\u00e9 de l&#8217;Arche.<\/p>\n<p>The day is recognized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.es\/educa\/dias-mundiales\/dia-escolar-no-violencia-paz \">UNICEF in Spain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caib.es\/pidip2front\/ficha_convocatoria.xhtml?lang=es&#038;urlSemantica=3500-alumnos-celebran-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-en-un-acto-organizado-por-el-govern-de-les-illes-balears-\">Palma<\/a>, on the Island of Mallorca in Spain, 3,500 primary and secondary school students took part in the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace event.  The celebration included the reading of a peace manifesto by student representatives, followed by a concert by the musical group P\u00e8l de Gall. Afterwards, doves were released, a universal symbol of peace and of the commitment to promoting coexistence and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/institutomediterraneo.es\/noticias\/1495\/celebracion-del-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-actualizado#\"> Mediterr\u00e1neo secondary schools <\/a> in Spain, \u00a0representatives from each secondary school group read their manifestos on behalf of their classes, linking their pledges to the chain of commitments from the previous group. This gesture symbolized the unity of all students in a shared commitment to positive and respectful coexistence. The grand finale was a reading of the poem &#8220;White Souls&#8221; by the high school students.<\/p>\n<p>In schools of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldo.es\/noticias\/aragon\/2026\/02\/04\/creatividad-solidaridad-y-convivencia-en-las-aulas-por-el-dia-de-la-paz-1890875.html\">Zaragoza, Spain<\/a>, there were artistic creations and exhibitions, fundraisers and charity runs, speeches and poems, music, games, and gatherings in the playground between students of different grades&#8230;\u00a0all promoting peace, non-violence, and kindness.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www3.gobiernodecanarias.org\/medusa\/edublog\/ceipiberia\/2026\/01\/30\/dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz\/\">Huerto Escolar Ecol\u00f3gico school <\/a> in the Canary Islands of Spain, students made presentations for peace and non-violence on their school radio station.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www3.gobiernodecanarias.org\/medusa\/edublog\/iestafira\/2026\/02\/02\/dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz\/\">Tafira &#8211; Nelson Mandela secondary school <\/a> of the Canary Islands, students listened to &#8220;Poetry Committed to Peace&#8221; played over the school&#8217;s public address system during the first few minutes of each class and the 7th-grade students prepared an &#8220;Images for Peace&#8221; exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/teror.es\/teror-conmemoro-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-con-una-manifestacion-del-ies\/\">Teror secondary school <\/a>, also in the Canary Islands, the event began with a march by the students, carrying a banner with the slogan &#8216;The first condition for peace is the will to achieve it&#8217;, and chanting in unison, &#8220;Who are we? IES de Teror. What do we want? Peace.&#8221; In the Manifesto for Peace read by the students, they also emphasized this message: \u201cPeace is not just the absence of war. Peace is respect, dialogue, equality, and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The secondary school of <a href=\"https:\/\/infonortedigital.com\/art\/188485\/el-ies-la-aldea-de-san-nicolas-lanza-el-videoclip-dejanos-vivir-en-paz-por-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-video\">La Aldea de San Nicol\u00e1s <\/a> in the Canary Islands presented the official video clip of the song\u00a0&#8220;Let us live in peace&#8221;.\u00a0 This audiovisual project is the result of intensive collaborative work aimed at raising awareness among the school community and the general public about the importance of coexistence, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aytosalamanca.es\/w\/carbayo-anima-a-los-alumnos-del-colegio-divino-maestro-a-realizar-peque%C3%B1os-gestos-a-favor-del-di%C3%A1logo-la-convivencia-y-el-respeto-en-el-d%C3%ADa-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz\">Salamanca, Spain<\/a>, the event included the reading of a manifesto, accompanied by a musical performance by a teacher from the Divino Maestro school, followed by the formation of a large circle for peace. Throughout the day, the various participating schools added their artwork and messages to this piece, transforming it into a collective symbol of Villaca\u00f1as&#8217; commitment to peace. The celebration also included musical accompaniment and the performance of a song that was sung together by all attendees, highlighting the importance of education as a fundamental pillar for building a culture of peace.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/ajuntament.barcelona.cat\/infancia\/es\/noticia\/celebramos-con-las-comunidades-educativas-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz_1596200\">Barcelona<\/a>, Children from Tur\u00f3 Blau School, Elisenda de Montcada School Institute, Bosc de Montju\u00efc Institute, Pedralbes Institute, and Caterina Albert Institute shared a series of learning experiences and reflections on &#8220;Invisible Violence&#8221;.  The event was facilitated by the Escola de Cultura de Pau.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecologistasenaccion.org\/355274\/dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-plantacion-colectiva-de-olivos\/\">Ecologistas en Acci\u00f3n. <\/a> based in Madrid, took part in the planting of olive trees on the occasion of the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace on January 30.  This is part of\u00a0the campaign entitled \u201cThere is no peace without justice.\u201d\u00a0of the Palestinian Tide platform, comprised of more than 60 educational organizations.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paeria.cat\/es\/actualidad\/noticias\/lleida-conmemora-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-con-una-accion-que-reune-a-mas-de-1-500-ninos\">Lleida, Catalonia, Spain<\/a>,  A total of 1,500 children participated in the commemoration of the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace. The boys and girls left messages of peace on maps installed in the squares of Pau Casals, Magnolias and Sant Jordi. The schools Sant Jordi, Minerva, Sant Josep de Calassan\u00e7, Pa\u00efsos Catalans, Enric Farreny, M\u00e0rius Torres, Parc de l&#8217;Aigua, El Carme, Frederic God\u00e0s, Esperan\u00e7a, Maria R\u00fabies, Joan Or\u00f3, Santa Anna, Sant Jaume Les Heures, Santa Maria de Gardeny and FEDAC participated.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cieza.es\/portal\/2015Actualidad.jsp?seccion=2015FichaNoticia.jsp&#038;contenido=46879&#038;tipo=8&#038;nivel=1400&#038;2015Actualidad.jsp\">Cieza, Spain<\/a>,  the San Jos\u00e9 Obrero School in Cieza once again transformed its commemorative day for the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace into a pedagogical and artistic experience. This time, students and teachers climbed onto the deck of a ship to present the play &#8220;Pirates of the Sea of \u200b\u200bPeace&#8221;.   With the theme that &#8220;peace is not conquered, it is built,&#8221; students and teachers explored diverse cultures to understand how each people live in harmony, learning the values of each place and performaing a traditional dance from each region..  During the performance, they docked at various ports to receive lessons from each community they visited, including China, Hawaii, Africa, India and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sevillafc.es\/actualidad\/noticias\/el-sevilla-fc-celebra-dia-escolar-no-violencia-paz-absentismo-escolar-bullying\">The Football Club of Seville, Spain <\/a> celebrated the day by a series of actions with the Entre Amigos Association in the Pol\u00edgono Sur neighborhood to combat school absenteeism and bullying.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifomo.es\/articulo\/santander\/cantabria-santander-instala-placa-parque-paz-motivo-dia-escolar-violencia-paz\/20260130141339341100.html\">Santander, Spain<\/a>, to celebrate the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace, the mayor placed a plaque to rename the park next to La Anunciaci\u00f3n Scholl as &#8220;La Paz Park&#8221; and a group of children from the school sang a song for peace..<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/noticiasatiempo.es\/20260130\/el-colegio-la-encarnacion-celebra-en-penaranda-el-dia-escolar-de-la-no-violencia-y-la-paz-reuniendo-a-alumnos-profesores-y-familias\/\">Pe\u00f1aranda, Spain<\/a>,  \u00a0the school community of La Encarnaci\u00f3n celebrated Peace Day in the school auditorium. The students carried symbols related to this commemoration, and a manifesto in favor of peace and against violence was read..<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/diocesisvitoria.org\/mas-de-1300-escolares-tienden-puentes-por-la-paz\/\">Vitoria-Gasteiz <\/a>,  in the Basque region of Spain,  \u00a0a total of\u00a01315 students from all the Church schools in the capital of Alavesa\u00a0\u2013 shared a central event in the\u00a0New Cathedral\u00a0for the School Day of Non-violence and Peace.  The program included testimonies from several students, music, a prayer, and a\u00a0manifesto\u00a0for peace.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldodeleon.es\/articulo\/leon\/dia-celebrar-paz-pastorinas\/20260131151431070772.html\">L\u00e9on<\/a>, in the Northwest of Spain, the educational community of the Divina Pastora School commemorated the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace.  Students from each grade level created a peace pledge.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pressreader.com\/mexico\/zocalo-monclova\/20260130\/282080578260462\">Zocalo Monclova, Mexico<\/a>, an event was held at the Ignacio Zaragoza Secondary School with educational and municipal authorities.  The municipal government reiterated its commitment to promoting initiatives that strengthen a culture of peace in schools.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yucatan.gob.mx\/saladeprensa\/ver_nota.php?id=10417\">Yucatan, Mexico<\/a>, the State Center for Social Crime Prevention held a soccer tournament to commemorate the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahora.cu\/en\/holguin\/25829-friends-of-cuba-in-victoria-canada-hold-solidarity-meeting-in-holguin\">Holgu\u00edn, Cuba<\/a>, the group Friends of Cuba, based in Victoria, Canada, held a solidarity meeting at the \u201cRonald Andalia Nieves\u201d school, coinciding with the School Day of Non-Violence and Peace.
