The following excerpt from remarks by President Trump at the World Economic Forum illustrates the impression one gets from the new President that it is impossible to know if his words can be taken seriously.   Or are they just part of a game he is playing with the world, much like Charlie Chaplin&#8217;s portrayal of Hitler playing with a toy balloon of the world.  Let us hope they can be taken seriously in this case.)<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-at-Davos.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-at-Davos-300x183.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-36245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-at-Davos-300x183.jpg 300w, https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-at-Davos-768x469.jpg 768w, https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-at-Davos.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> <\/center><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How do you see the relationship between the U.S. and China in the next four years under your leadership?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE PRESIDENT:<\/strong>\u00a0 He called me.\u00a0 But I see it very good.\u00a0 I think that we\u2019re going to have a very good relationship.\u00a0 All we want is fairness.\u00a0 We just want a level playing field.\u00a0 We don\u2019t want to take advantage.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been having massive deficits with China.\u00a0 Biden allowed it to get out of hand.\u00a0 He\u2019s \u2014 $1.1 trillion deficit.\u00a0 It\u2019s ridiculous, and it\u2019s just an unfair relationship.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And we have to make it just fair.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have to make it phenomenal.\u00a0 We have to make it a fair relationship.\u00a0 Right now, it\u2019s not a fair relationship.\u00a0 The deficit is massive, as it is with other countries \u2014 a lot of Asian countries, actually.\u00a0 But we have deficits that are very big, and we can\u2019t keep doing that, so we\u2019re not going to keep doing that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But I like President Xi very much.\u00a0 I\u2019ve always liked him.\u00a0 We always had a very good relationship.\u00a0 It was very strained with COVID coming out of Wuhan.\u00a0 Obviously, that strained it.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure it strained it with a lot of people, but that strained our relationship.\u00a0 But we always had a great relationship, I would say, and we look forward to doing very well with China and getting along with China.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Hopefully, China can help us stop the war with, in particular, Russia-Ukraine.\u00a0 And they have a great deal of power over that situation, and we\u2019ll work with them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And I mentioned that with \u2014 during our phone conversation with President Xi, and hopefully we could work together and get that stopped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d like to see denuclearization.\u00a0 In fact, with President Putin, prior to a \u2014 an election result, which was, frankly, ridiculous, we were talking about denuclearization of our two countries, and China would have come along.\u00a0 China has a \u2014 a much smaller, right now, nuclear armament than us or field than us, but they\u2019re \u2014 they\u2019re going to be catching it at some point over the next four or five years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And I will tell you that President Putin really liked the idea of \u2014 of cutting way back on nuclear.\u00a0 And I think the rest of the world, we would have gotten them to follow.\u00a0 And China would have come along too.\u00a0 China also liked it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tremendous amounts of money are being spent on nuclear, and the destructive capability is something that we don\u2019t even want to talk about today, because you don\u2019t want to hear it.\u00a0 It\u2019s too depressing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>(Continued in right column)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\">Question related to this article:<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\">\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=5035\">Can we abolish all nuclear weapons?<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>(Continued from left column)<\/p>\n<p>So, we want to see if we can denuclearize, and I think that\u2019s very possible. \u00a0And I can tell you that President Putin wanted to do it.\u00a0 He and I wanted to do it.\u00a0 We had a good conversation with China.\u00a0 They would have been involved, and that would have been an unbelievable thing for the planet.<\/p>\n<p>And I hope \u2014<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>MR. BRENDE:\u00a0 Mr. President, when you\u2019re \u2014<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE PRESIDENT:<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2014 it can be started up again.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>MR. BRENDE:\u00a0 \u2014 back here in Davos next year, will \u2014 will there be then a peace agreement with \u2014 with Ukraine and Russia by then?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE PRESIDENT<\/strong>:\u00a0 Well, you\u2019re going to have to ask Russia.\u00a0 Ukraine is ready to \u2014 to make a deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just so you understand, this is a war that should have never started.\u00a0 If I were president, it would never have started.\u00a0 This is a war that should have never, ever been started.\u00a0 And \u2014 and it wasn\u2019t started during my \u2014 there was never even talk about it.\u00a0 I knew that it was the apple of President Putin\u2019s eye, but I also knew that there was no way he was going in, and he wasn\u2019t going to go in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And then, when I was out, bad things happened, bad things were said, a lot of stupidity all around, and you end up with what you have.\u00a0 Now you have all these bombed-out cities \u2014 they look like demolition sites \u2014 with many people killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I think the \u2014 the thing that you\u2019ll see about Ukraine is that far \u2014 far more people have died than is being reported.\u00a0<br \/>\nAnd I\u2019ve seen that.\u00a0 But far, far more people have died.<\/p>\n<p>When you look at a city that\u2019s become a demolition site, where big buildings have been collapsed by missiles hitting them and everything else, and they say, \u201cOne person was slightly injured.\u201d\u00a0 No, no, many people were killed.\u00a0 Those are big buildings.\u00a0 I was surprised at how \u2014 that was my business.\u00a0 These are buildings that go two and three blocks long.\u00a0 They\u2019re 20 stories high.\u00a0 They\u2019re big, powerful buildings.\u00a0 Then they were knocked down, and there were a lot of people in those buildings.\u00a0 They had announced that two people were injured.\u00a0 That\u2019s not true.\u00a0 So, I think you\u2019re going to find that there were many more people killed in Ukraine and the Ukraine war than anybody has any idea.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But if you look now, so many of the \u2014 the people being killed are soldiers just facing each other with guns, rifles, and drones \u2014 the new form of warfare \u2014 drones.\u00a0 And it\u2019s a very sad thing to see.<\/p>\n<p>And when you see pictures of the fields that I see, nobody wants to see it.\u00a0 You\u2019ll never be the same.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;  &#8211;  &#8211;  &#8211;  &#8211;  &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to make a comment on this article, you may write to coordinator@cpnn-world.org with the title &#8220;Comment on (name of article)&#8221; and we will put your comment on line.
