width: 46%;\">Questions related to this article:<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\">\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=26764\">Can the peace movement help stop the war in the Ukraine?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=18652\">How can the peace movement become stronger and more effective?<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>(Continued from left column)<\/p>\n<p>Here is the petition as translated from the German by the Chrome browser.<\/p>\n<p>The Ukraine crisis has escalated into a serious threat to peace in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>A one-sided\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imi-online.de\/2022\/01\/24\/nato-aggression-und-russlands-reaktion\/\">blaming of Russia, as practiced by some Western governments and in the major media, is unjustified\u00a0<\/a> and is increasingly taking on the character of war propaganda.<\/p>\n<p>Despite military maneuvers near Ukraine\u00a0, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imi-online.de\/2022\/01\/24\/nato-aggression-und-russlands-reaktion\/\"> Russia has no interest in a war\u00a0that would have catastrophic consequences for all sides<\/a>.\u00a0A similar number of soldiers are on the Ukrainian side and are threatening areas in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian rebels.\u00a0In view of the tense situation, there is a risk that a provocation will trigger sparks that will explode the powder keg, even if there are no intentions of war.<\/p>\n<p>It is in Moscow&#8217;s legitimate security interest that\u00a0<a href=\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/i\/status\/1487036156885753858&#8243;>NATO&#8217;s eastward expansion<\/a>\u00a0, which has been moving closer and closer to Russia&#8217;s borders since 1999, should not also be extended to Ukraine.\u00a0That would reduce Moscow&#8217;s warning time in the event of a nuclear missile attack to 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The current crisis is part of a global and long-standing conflict rooted in the US claim that\u00a0\u201cAmerica will lead the world again,\u201d\u00a0as the US President put it.\u00a0The European NATO partners join with some nuances as junior partners.\u00a0In contrast, others, including Russia, reject Western dominance and want to be respected as equal partners in a multipolar world order.<\/p>\n<p>It is time for the principle of undivided, common security to be accepted again, as recognized during the Cold War.\u00a0In the nuclear age, neither side can increase security at the expense of the other.\u00a0There is only security together.\u00a0Lasting peace with Russia therefore requires a pan-European peace order.<\/p>\n<p>First steps must be demilitarization along the Russian-Ukrainian and Russia-NATO borders and implementation of the\u00a0Minsk II\u00a0agreement .\u00a0It provides for a ceasefire, dialogue between the conflicting parties and a special status for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions within Ukraine.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/depts\/german\/sr\/sr_15\/sr2202.pdf\">By unanimous UN Security Council decision,\u00a0Minsk II\u00a0also has binding international law status<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0However, the implementation is mainly blocked by Ukraine.\u00a0Sanctions will not change anything in the conflict.\u00a0They are pointlessly damaging both Russia and other European countries.<\/p>\n<p>Forces fueling tensions with aggressive nationalism and revanchism must be pushed back on all sides.<\/p>\n<p>Propaganda wars, saber rattling, sanctions and rearmament must stop.\u00a0Instead, we need de-escalation and diplomacy.\u00a0All the more so as the global threat of climate and environmental disasters can only be averted through international cooperation.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWe demand:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Concrete steps to de-escalate, no military supplies to Kiev,<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; No more war rhetoric, confrontational politics and sanctions against Russia;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Active advocacy for the implementation of the\u00a0Minsk II\u00a0agreement, which is binding under international law ;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
