In order to promote the culture of peace, the right to culture, and revitalization of the native language through the musical professionalization of hip hop in the state of Quintana Roo, last 17 and April 18, the\u00a0First Barrio Maya Festival\u00a0was held in its first\u00a0virtual edition,\u00a0featuring workshops, talks, conferences, and concerts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were workshops, conversations and concerts with the Mayan rap community, there were personalities like Pat Boy<\/strong> and the ambassadors of Barrio Maya<\/strong>,\u201d explains Guido Arcella, one of the organizers of this festival.<\/p>\n

The Barrio Maya festival began on Saturday 17, at 10 am with the talk led by Pat Boy<\/strong>, one of the forerunners of hip hop in Maya language, precisely to talk about the history of rap in Maya, followed by the workshop\u00a0\u201cBody and Rap\u201d\u00a0imparted by Hunaac Cel<\/strong> and Nadia Zupo<\/strong>, and concluded with a concert of\u00a0MC Fer-LA2C<\/strong> and the Maya-Kill Beat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the second day, Sunday 18th, the United States Consulate in M\u00e9rida participated, as well as the\u00a0Jornada de Derechos Humanos A.C.\u00a0and the Latin American Hip Hop Network in the discussion \u201cThe United States and Latin America, hip hop as a meeting point\u201d.<\/p>\n

That day there was also a workshop on\u00a0BeatMaking and musical entrepreneurship\u00a0given by the\u00a0Campeche Hip Hop Movemen<\/strong>t\u00a0and to conclude the concert by\u00a0Verso Mays-Xi\u2019ipal, Samik A.K.A Big Man<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Dino Chan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
