{"id":21375,"date":"2020-10-05T11:36:24","date_gmt":"2020-10-05T15:36:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=21375"},"modified":"2020-10-07T15:13:18","modified_gmt":"2020-10-07T19:13:18","slug":"europe-international-day-of-peace-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=21375","title":{"rendered":"Europe: International day of Peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"float: left; width: 46%;\">\n<p>FREE FLOW OF INFORMATION . <\/p>\n<p>A survey by CPNN<\/p>\n<p>We list here 274 events in 12 European countries that were listed in Google during the week of September 21-28 under the key words \u201cInternational Day of Peace\u201d, \u201cJourn\u00e9e Internationale de la Paix\u201d, \u201cDia Internacional de Paz\u201d, \u201cDia Internacional da Paz\u201d,  &#8220;Internationaler Tag des Friedens&#8221;and &#8220;Giornata internazionale della pace&#8221; or were listed on the websites of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/internationalcitiesofpeace\/\">International Cities of Peace Facebook<\/a> and the website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.21septembre.org\/evenements-passes\/\">Collectif de 21 septembre<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>In addition to these, over 300 events are listed on the maps of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onedayonechoir.org\/whos-singing\/\">One Day One Choir<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/singpeacearoundtheworld.com\/\">Montessori schools singing for peace<\/a>, but there is no indication which took place this year and which took place only in previous years.  <\/p>\n<p>No doubt there were also many events listed on the Internet in the various national languages in Europe other than those for which we searched.<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Morlaix-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Morlaix-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"582\" height=\"354\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Morlaix-1.jpg 582w, https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Morlaix-1-300x182.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nMany cities and towns in France, like Morlaix in this photo, were mobilized by the Collectif de 21 septembre<br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meinbezirk.at\/braunau\/c-lokales\/hauptschule-aspach-feierte-weltfriedenstag_a356427\">ASPACH, AUSTRIA<\/a> :<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 school classes from all over Austria took part in the &#8220;Peace Doves&#8221; campaign initiated by UN peace ambassador Jane Goodall this year and made small and large peace doves for this day.\u00a0The action was intended to call on people to get involved in a peaceful coexistence.\u00a0Students from the secondary school in Aspach under the direction of Andrea Kraxberger also took part in the campaign and gave wings to their longing for peace with pigeons they made themselves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meinbezirk.at\/wels-wels-land\/c-lokales\/handelsakademie-stift-lambach-feiert-mit-jane-goodall-weltfriedenstag_a355055\">LAMBACH, AUSTRIA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over 100 school classes from all over Austria took part in the &#8220;Peace Doves&#8221; campaign initiated by UN peace ambassador Jane Goodall this year and made small and large peace doves for this day. Thousands of \u201cPeace Doves\u201d will fly around the globe on the UN World Day of Peace this year too.  Pupils from the Lambach Commercial Academy under the direction of Ms. Gertrude Wurm also took part in the action and gave wings to their longing for peace through many handcrafted doves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.journeedelapaix.be\/\">BELGIUM<\/a> :<\/p>\n<p>September 21 is the International Day of Peace, decreed by the UN to &#8220;promote the ideals of peace&#8221;. On this occasion, we (la Coalition belge contre les armes nucl\u00e9aires.\u00a0) propose to the towns and municipalities of Belgium to fly the peace flag on official buildings. To mark this remembrance day, the Ministry for Gozo has organised a stunning lights installation in the Gholja ta\u2019 Ghar Ilma, which is found in Santa Lucija.<br \/>\nThe installation, which depicts a dove with an olive branch, was created by the locality\u2019s fireworks committee and the Ministry for Gozo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aveiromag.pt\/2020\/09\/21\/ha-origamis-a-decorar-a-rua-dos-mercadores-para-lembrar-o-dia-da-paz\/\">AVEIRO, PORTUGAL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The association Agora Aveiro is back to street actions.\u00a0This Monday, in order to mark the \u201cInternational Day of Peace\u201d, the members of the association promoted an action that consisted of placing 1,000 paper \u201ctsurus\u201d, small origami, in one of the most popular streets in the city, Rua dos Merchants.  This intervention is related to the story of the Japanese girl Sadako Sasaki.\u00a0Shee was only 12 when she died of the effects of her exposure to the Hiroshima atomic bomb.\u00a0While she was hospitalized, she got to know the legend of the thousand &#8220;tsurus&#8221; and the wish she could see fulfilled.\u00a0Sadako cultivated the hope that the gods would grant her healing and then went on to make origami.\u00a0She died on October 25, 1955, before completing the thousand &#8220;tsurus&#8221;.  Sadako turned out to be the symbol of the civilian victims of the nuclear war.\u00a0\u201cA child, like so many others, victims of a war she didn&#8217;t understand\u201d, lament the elements of Agora Aveiro, in the information panel that accompanies the installation of the \u201ctsurus\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.primeiramao.pt\/sociedade\/maia-no-movimento-municipios-pela-paz\/\">MAIA, PORTUGAL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On September 22, 2020 the Maia City Council approved, in an executive meeting, the adhesion of the Municipality of Maia to the \u201cMunicipalities for Peace Movement\u201d and, inherently, to the \u201c10 Commitments for Peace\u201d.
