Inspired from having just watched Rep John Lewis’s poignant Memorial Service, allow me to make some “good trouble” by sharing the following FYI.\u00a0\u00a0Rep John Lewis is a true Peace Hero to us at the Peace Alliance because he was\u00a0an original cosponsor of the\u00a0first\u00a0Department of Peace bill\u00a0introduced in Congress by former Rep Dennis Kucinich on July 11, 2001 (along with then Rep Bernie Sanders!).\u00a0 <\/p>\n

\n<\/center><\/p>\n

Unlike Bernie who moved on to the Senate, Rep Lewis\u00a0continued to faithfully cosponsor the bill\u00a0in each of the 10 additional congressional sessions it has been reintroduced\u00a0(presently\u00a0HR-1111 sponsored by Rep Barbara Lee of Ca).\u00a0\u00a0Few\u00a0other Members of Congress have that long-enduring distinction.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our Georgia Dept of Peacebuilding Committee member had a wonderful relationship with Rep Lewis, so we often visited his office during our Advocacy Days in DC (first picture).\u00a0<\/p>\n
