The bank and its parent company did not respond to repeated inquires about whether last week\u2019s horrific mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida, would cause it to reconsider its relationship with the group leading the charge to oppose gun violence prevention efforts.<\/p>\n<p>(Article continued in right column)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\">Question related to this article:<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"float: right; width: 46%;\">\n<br \/>\n<em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/english.cpnn-world.org\/?p=12058\">Do you think handguns should be banned?, Why or why not?<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>(continued from left column)<\/p>\n<p>But less than 24 hours later, ThinkProgress\u00a0spotted\u00a0that the website advertising the \u201cofficial credit card of the NRA\u201d had mysteriously vanished, with an error message appearing in its place.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the bank nor Visa responded to repeated ThinkProgress inquiries about the disappearance, but the bank did respond on\u00a0Twitter, to many outraged customers, many of whom\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidgolbitz\/status\/966169128632545280\">threatened to cancel their accounts\u00a0<\/a> because of the relationship.<\/p>\n<p>First National Bank is the first of the corporations to officially end its relationship with the NRA in the aftermath of Parkland.<\/p>\n<p>There are still\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/corporations-nra-f0d8074f2ca7\/\">at least 21 corporations\u00a0<\/a> with ongoing relationships with the NRA.<\/p>\n<p>Editor\u2019s note: Since this article was published, a number of these other corporations have stopped their relationship with the NRA, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/nra-backlash-major-bank-and-car-rental-giant-are-ending-partnerships-2018-02-22\">Enterprise, Alamo and National<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/morning-mix\/wp\/2018\/02\/23\/boycottnra-enterprise-omaha-bank-end-gun-lobby-deals-as-boycott-movement-gains-steam\/?utm_term=.cd87eb2719bc\">Hertz and Avis car rentals<\/a>.  However, the NRA continues its own publicity, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/nationworld\/ct-nra-wayne-lapierre-school-shooting-20180222-story.html\">assailing the media and calling for the arming of teachers<\/a>, a position <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/trump-s-proposal-arm-teachers-panned-experts-colossally-stupid-idea-n850286\">supported by President Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DISARMAMENT &#038; SECURITY .
